Appothèque
A menu bar launcher for the Mac and iOS apps you are building: it rebuilds only when its inputs changed.
- State
- On 6 Oct 2026, version 0.5.1 is the latest release, published 53 minutes after 0.5.0 on the same day, and nothing has been pushed since. m
- Runs on
- macOS 26 or later, universal, signed and notarised; builds iOS apps for a simulator or a paired device
- Built with
- Swift, SwiftUI and AppKit, no third-party dependency
- Data
- Local only; build fingerprints are hashes of the inputs, never their contents; no network access
- Code
- Public, MIT licence: github.com/arsis-dev/appotheque
Known limits
- It needs macOS 26 or later. m
- It runs the build commands of the recipes you save, with no sandbox. m
- Opening the iOS simulator under Xcode 27 relies on an undocumented link, and launching on a physical device is not verified. m
- Only the build engine is covered by automated tests (52 test functions); the windows have none. m

- release
Appothèque 0.5.0, first release, open source under MIT. m
- decision
The launcher is redesigned as a native macOS 26 app: eight windows and panels become one launcher and one window, and the nine custom themes give way to eight tints. m
- release
Appothèque 0.5.1 follows the first release by 53 minutes, with launch progress in the launcher rows and the list of changed files. m
- decision
Before publication the launcher drops every personal default, a shipped list of the author's projects and fixed search folders, and starts empty. m
- rename
The launcher called Dev Apps is renamed Appothèque, a play on apothecary. m
- milestone
A first working version, then called Dev Apps, runs within an hour of the first prompt: one click builds an app only if its files changed, then opens it. m
